I invented Afrodancehall’ – Stonebwoy brags
Award-winning reggae and dancehall artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla popularly known as Stonebwoy says he invented the music genre, Afro-dancehall. The BHIM nation boss in a tweet explained how he started his Afrobeats + dancehall sounds in 2009 and even won a BET award for it.
He wrote: “#AFRODANCEHALLINVENTOR. Before They Argue it Out! Remind Them That The Bwoy From Ghana. Said it First Circa 2009. And Won The First BET ‘15 For It!! #AFRODANCEHALL= AfroBeats + Dancehall A Decade Me A Push This. I’m happy to see fellow artiste start hashTag it…”
It’s unclear if Stonebwoy is responding to the statements from Gyedu Blay Ambolley who claims Stonebwoy doesn’t portray the Ghanaian culture in his songs.
In a recent interview, Gyedu Blay Ambolley said dancehall is a foreign genre of music hence, the ‘Tuff Seed’ singer should quit the genre and instead focus on releasing songs that throw light on the culture of the motherland.
